  • A light bodies red with nice fruit and balance. Seems to be good every year.

  • The aroma is dominated by smoke, with grilled fruit tones, tobacco, and black stone. There are soft notes of cherry and cranberry lingering in a cloud of all this blackness, and the balance between fruit and smoke is enticing and thought provoking.

Sweet, soft berry tones introduce the palate, with subtle creamy notes and a gentle hint of grilled meat and smoke. There is a unique spice cabinet and rose component toward the end and moving into the finish, and it’s an interesting way to complete a very unusual wine. One thing that I like about this varietal is how versatile it is, every one of them that I have had has been considerably different, and I am still not entirely sure I understand what can be excepted as “typical” for this varietal. That said, this is an interesting wine, with good expression, a relatively light body, and a smoky, spiciness that I could see pairing very easily with almost anything grilled. Truly something different, this is a wine worth trying.
