first Fisher ever, thanks Bob V, nose was gigantic (as was nose on Lynch Bages '85 we drank alongside), and was absolutely quintessential cabernet -- and fantastic... don't know if this is 100% cab but the nose certainly suggested it, on the palate it was tight at first but fruit came forward a bit over two hours, still feels quite young to me... nice drink for sure
Stood upright for 2 days (quite a bit of sediment), decanted and consumed over 3 hours. Can't really add much to the notes below. A classy, mature mountain cab with blackberry, tobacco, green pepper, cassis, graphite, and still lingering grainy tannin. In fact, the tannin was just a bit out of whack, which kept this from scoring in the extraordinary category. 14%.
The 97 Cult cab/Meritage dinner at RIS in DC: Fresh blackberries, chewy, fresh, cedar and earth. Initially I gave the best rating (99pts) but with time, noticed a hint of bell pepper and green also not as concentrated as the others hence slightly lower rating. Nevertheless just an exceptional showing. My second wine of the night. My wild guess was Fisher where Justin Bonner was certain that it was Fisher.
