I had this in 3 Riedel glasses Old world , new world and Sommeliers Pinot Noir New world glass produced a bitter finished not seen on the other two The Sommeliers glass produced the best nose and palate It’s amazing how 3 glasses produce such different results from the same wine
Drinking at its best now , very masculine and savoury style , deep colour , good intensity

First vintage of Bin 23 a multi vineyard Pinot from Adelaide Hills 35% new French oak aged for 9 months screwcap
Colour deep red translucent colour slight bricking on the edges , long arches on the glass , small berries in 2009 providing greater skin to fruit ratio impressive 15/15 Nose :in a word complex so many aromas ,many secondaries , great intensity , reminds me of the Ashton Reserve Pinot , you name it ,it’s there somewhere ; fruit, spice , florals, cedar , 28/30 Palate good complexity and intensity, only distraction is the taste of cough mixture flavours mentioned in other comments but I like the forest floor and gaminess of the wine , very different from VIC Pinots ,more masculine and savoury 42/44 Overall 9 yo old now drinking at its peak now , but who knows how long it will go on for under screwcap I like it 10/11

Excellent, 14% alc. 9 months in French oak barriques. Colour: dark red berries Bouquet: spicey red berries, raspberry, smokey, some charcoal oak character Palate: similar to bouquet, cherries and raspberries, plus strawberries, dried herbs, even more pronounced smokey cherry oak characters, quite full bodied, savoury, long clean dry finish. Substantial but easy drinking, in exportable Penfolds style. Nice drinking. See April 2017 comments too. July 2017

Very good, substantial Pinot with some finesse as well, house style evident more than traditional varietal character though. 14% alc. Colour: dark red berry Bouquet: ripe sweet fruit, but also savoury, floral, vibrant varietal strawberry and red berry, spice Palate: similar to bouquet, redcurrants, cranberries, sweet chocolatey oak, tar and a touch of eucalyptus, medium-full bodied, some blueberry, medicinal herbs, mineralogy, dusty, fine grained full but soft tannins, silky texture, long clean finish. Classic Adelaide/Coonawarra Pinot Noir. Deep, rich, loads of cherry and plum.
Excellent balance. Not for Burgundy lovers but great in its own way.
