Dense ruby. Some medium to dark red fruit, but relatively muted and compact. Tannins pretty much resolved, the structural profile being very much acidity led. Not a huge amount of complexity here, and a little shrill. Perfectly drinkable, but expensive (12 years ago) for what it is. Holds well overnight, possibly better balanced now, but still no more than mid ***

Clear dark ruby/purple in the glass. Not much in terms of tears. Pronounced nose with primary fruit. Blackberry and a bit of chocolate. Slightly alcoholic. Some earth as well. Palate is medium bodied with tannins and acidity dominating. The mid palate is a bit weak. Dries the mouth a bit. Stays in the mouth for 15 seconds or so, but it is not particularly powerful. Drinking ok. Might evolve a bit, but I think the relative weakness on the palate is unlikely to make it significantly better although the tannins will hopefully moderate. 1/2 = ok to good

Purchased at the winery. Cold cellared since. Tasted fresh and strong, with a bit of finesse. Well balanced with a lingering finish.

Glengarry Grand Tasting - Day 2; 9/1/2014-9/2/2014 (Glengarry Wines and Spirits, Victoria Park, Auckland, New Zealand): Classy and developed Northern Rhone nose. Lean and flinty with high acid and a smooth finish. This is a very good wine that will always be lean but should improve and develop further nuance with time. 88+

Glengarry Grand Tasting - Day 1; 8/29/2014-9/1/2014 (Glengarry Wines and Spirits, Victoria Park, Auckland, New Zealand): Dense and dark. Toasted oak, burnt rubber. Quite a bit of the oak and the elevage of the wine are apparent. Slightly oxidative - not brilliant, but a very good wine.
