First of 6 bought at auction through K&L. Perfect bootle/cork/level. Bright dense ruby color, some purple, no bricking. Decanted for 2 hours. Quite a bit of complexity on the nose: pepper, earthiness, blueberry, some floral notes, cigar box. Mouth: great balance, everything makes sense: nice fruit, some tannic structure (the wine feels quite young), pleasant mouth development, not over the top, restrained elegance, good persistence. There is greenness and stemminess that prevents a higher score. Will give it a little more time, still some upside potential. Revisit in 2020.
Double decant 2hrs White pepper, wet wool, gaminess, wet earth, leather, dried herbs, fennel, a bit of sour cherry, cigar ash comes out on nose. Berries come out after an hour. Blackberry, blueberry comes out on nose. Flavors a bit more sour than my liking, some cherry, lamb, mushroom, blackberry comes, sugar plum. Not at the same level as the 2006 I had. It had moments of greatness. Actually felt a bit tired. Weight medium minus, acid medium plus. I did not like the sour taste that was lingering around.
Double decanted for three hours. Deep ruby core with just of hint of mahogany at the rim. Dark fruit dominant, with hints of flowers. Fine yet energetic tannins compliment the wines fleshy fruit core sprinkled with spice and hints of smoke, and tar. Balanced with a nicely lingering finish. Really just entering its maturity should have a bright future
