Fine classic style pomerol with nice concentration of cherries, plums, spices and oak. Decent structure and medium finish. Lacking the great concentration and aromatics or subtlety of the best pomerols though.
Claret color with a bouquet and flavor of sweet tobacco with not much fruit in evidence, which surprised me, given the descriptions of other drinkers. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Nicely balanced with good definition, but missed being a wow. Two other bottles tasted after the first were less compelling, but were not decanted.
Such a joy. A touch of decanting helps but the wine is ready to be enjoyed from start. Cedar, light earth, light herby nose with good fruit. On the palate it is well round, yet firm, silky tannin, good fruit and very enjoyable at this stage in its life. Short on the finish unfortunately and with a few dry notes but overall it will not dissapoint. 93 from us and drinks very nicely at this stage.
