A relatively big wine, so needs to be a bit warmer than I often serve lighter reds. When given the space to shine, this is quite fun. Sort of like Ridge Zin, in that the oak and fruit are big, but it still feels well made and reflective of the site.
The color belied the age on this wine. N: Funky at first, this opened up to reveal dark fruit and cool climate Syrah. P: So smoooth, but seemed to have less impact than before and a tad less fruit. F: Medium, with resolved tannins and acidity. Based on this bottle, I'll be drinking mine sooner than later. 90+
A smooth and delicate wine despite the significant blue and red fruit coming through on the palate. The nose remains a bit muted at this stage (opened for four hours, no decanting). Tasting to determine whether I will buy on the upcoming release...most likely a yes...
