PNP late in dinner when other bottle was finished. Nothing fancy, but solid wine. Fruit is well balanced and there is a little tannin that needs some air

On the down side for sure. Have not had a Faust that old. It was past it's prime and winding down the other way. Was still excellent. Both of us concurred that it would have been better 2 years ago. Had a little of the going old bitterness, but it was very slight and you needed a trained palate to sense that.

This example may be holding up better because of cellaring and the 1.5L format, so the wine was still in the latter part of its drinking window. Similar to my 2013 note, it is a solid upper/mid-level California cab with wide appeal; dark purple with black and plum fruit; rich black fruits with spice notes and now moderate to smooth tannins. I doubt it was really intended for long term cellaring, so I'd drink my 2007s now until 2020.

Tasted along side the 2012. The 2012 was the crowd favorite until the 2007 came out. It was super close.

This has degraded greatly. Disappointing as it was nice wine at one time. Not a wine to cellar.
