Good Barolo and Barbaresco (67 Pall Mall): An even bigger wine - as expected. Actually very drinkable, with a sensuality to complement the substance. Increasingly floral with air. As with the other 2004, I predict this wine can improve. My #5 tonight, and the group's #4.

Nick A's "Good Barolo and Barbaresco" at 67 PM (67 Pall Mall, London): This is a game of two halves. First 45 mins it's playing slowly out from the back and I'm unmoved. Expected goals. Zip. Then after the break much less aloof; there is still an olive brine and caper salinity but it becomes more impressive; some cassia bark syrup, conkers and meat juices. Tannic but once senses more to show in the years ahead.

Nick’s Barolo and Barbaresco (67 Pall Mall, London): Roses and tar nose, lovely, with mineral notes. Medium/full bodied with lovely pure fruit, soft tannins, fersh/vibrant acids, touch of liquorice on the long finish. Lovely

Barolo 2004 with the Jeroboam Club (Little Shop and Pantry, Bristol): Lighter in colour than others in our line-up. Red-garnet with a bit of bricking. Freshly chopped oak prominent on the nose, somewhat masking the other aromatics (pine, balsam, cherry lozenge). Quite soupy oak dominates on the palate and lends a somewhat bitter edge to what is otherwise a nicely balanced, even quite delicate wine with a pleasantly sweet mid-palate

Nick's "Good Barolo and Barbaresco" Dinner - Friday 22 March, 67 Pall Mall; 3/24/2024-3/25/2024 (67 Pall Mall): Darker, woodier, more powerful. Rich, deep fruits and mouthwatering. Seems pretty youthful.
