Pretty nice medium bodied burg which seems to have made in a slightly modern style, plenty of extract and wood here. A bit rustic on the palate, with hints of black tea, red fruits with cherry and raspberry some tertiary notes reflecting bottle age. Short spicy acid laden finish. On the decline with fading fruit, but a decent effort considering the vintage and appellation.

Showed really nicely with typical Roty oak and meatiness. It's a bold wine, even for an entry level Marsannay with a lot of concentration of dark fruit, leafy notes, and spice.

Joseph Roty Marsannay Ouzeloy Mini-Vertical (Nopa, San Francisco): Lighter color. All soil on the nose. Light weight, some cranberry fruit and sour cherry, but this is dominated by acidity and earth. It is not thin but at the same time does not have the material to buffer the tartness. I wouldn't bet on this aging gracefully as the balance just doesn't seem to be there.

From 375ml. Drank over 2 hours but this was showing well right from the start. Gorgeous perfume of raspberries and dried flowers, with just a touch of oak and stems. Light to medium bodied with medium+ acidity. Tart red cherries and some sweet oak spice that isn't overwhelming. This will certainly improve for many years but it's no crime to open one now. Delicious.

Very pretty, still tight acid with fine tannins, unfurling, a darling of a wine.
