13.3% abv. Dark burgundy red. The aromatics are exceptional, really expressive and luscious. On the palate, black raspberry, pomegranate, black cherry and spice. Great structure and depth. This wine is just coming into its own and will continue to improve.
I bought this bottle off a website auction. It was brownish and somewhat opaque. Nose muted. Somewhat green and stemmy but did open a bit with about 30 of air. Seems as if it were cooked. I don't think it was just young. Will try more later.
2008 Rhys (The Medlar, London): A touch lactic on the nose, then a bit diffuse. Dark red to black fruit. Good acidity with dense fruit behind it, but lacks a slight frisson cf the others. Tightens up with air to a densely mineral line through the fruit. ***(*)
