Restrained and elegant Bordeaux-like aromas suggests a concentration of ripe and baked black fruits, some underlying sugared mint. The palate is concentrated, unctuous, slightly savory. the alcohol is out of balance at this point - it was probably better supported in its youth, but this is no longer a fruit basket that Zin promises.

Sigh. Drink now as this wine is slightly past its prime. While still possessing fairly intense core zin fruit flavors of blackberry/dark cherry, the spicy pepper zing that makes Hartford's Highwire zin my favorite in their portfolio is long gone. This remains a good zin but drink now- additional aging will not improve this wine.

Great wine with lush fruit and cherry- I would have rated it higher but it does not taste like a classic zinfandel.
