Just a tiny amount of bricking at the edges. Nose of cherry wood, mossy/wet stone and allspice. Full bodied and still plenty of tannin presence but they are fine and smooth throughout the palate. Ripe black fruit with a little earthiness, leather and clove. Nice finish. Seems to have quite a few years left.

Lunch at SSG. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Tasted blind. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of dark red cherries, black cherries, dark pomegranate, licorice. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), fine high tannins, full body. Medium+ intensity, with flavours of dark red cherries, black cherries, dark pomegranates, licorice, fine dark leather. Just starting to show a little dusty Tuscan earth. Very long finish. Very very good quality. Proof of how superb and balanced the 2004 Brunello vintage was. Few more years of age also no problem for this.

Nose: Raisins. Blueberry. Vanilla. Chocolate. Nuts. Mint. Leather. Medium to high intensity.
Palate: Raisins. Cranberry. Blackberry. Raspberry. Sour cherry. Leather. Grapefruit. High acidity. High tannins. Dry. Medium body. Medium flavour intensity.
Finish: Herbaceous. Sour cherry. Long finish.
My kind of wine, austere and structured. The power and structure is impressive for its age. Will continue drink well over the next few years, may still improve.

So well integrated, a lovely nose and the subtle fruit. This is why I have to be more patient! Worth the wait. Wish I could still find it Stateside.
