Opened one hour in advance. Aroma of lanolin and flowers. Tart stone fruit flavor with a little beeswax. Complex finish with elements of apricot, white fruit, citrus. Understated, firm backbone, surprisingly fresh flavors. Simple up front but gains character at the end. Solid all the way through, but lacks the wow factor you normally find with Huet.

Not much on the nose. Delicate sunlight yellow. Real complexity on the palate here with finesse galore. Very dry. A touch light on acidity and just missing the structure to push this to 95 or more. Simply delicious.

Pinguet-era Chenin bought from the man himself in 07. Textbook dry styled Vouvray. First day paired with Pikeperch from Mälaren served with butter, capers, tomatoes, dill and a mash of almond potatoes. The pairing is great! Chenin LOVES sweet water fish. Day 1: slightly oxidated, sweet tobacco, wooly, almond and honey notes. In the mouth it's apparent that the fruit is declining but the balance is perfect! Low alcohol (12.5 percent) and yet completely dry. Day 2: consistent notes. Perhaps a hint of red apples and chalk. I do not remember if Huet did vin nature in 06? But the wine still holds together perfectly, which is an indication of the quality under Mr. Pinguet. Unfortunately my last bottle. 90 - 91.

Medium gold, but very fresh still- just entering its window - delicious, wonderfully balanced.
