Short decant to avoid any fine sediment (and the big chunks too). This wine is perfectly balanced and in a perfect place for enjoying with or without food. Tasted next to a 2007 Mayacamas Cabernet and both wines were spot on their home terroir. The Rubicon was classic Rutherford with soft and polished dusty tannin and perfectly balanced fruit and acidity. I love Rubicons at 15 or so years old. Drink up if you have them.

a little hot (I usually try to keep my Cali cabs 2000 and before -- ie before everyone went crazy for hi sugar harvest, hi alcohol, in your face palate, etc) -- and a little dull on the palate... wasn't so much "in your face" as hot but with mild palate that was low to medium volume and four square (ie not elegant per se, and without palate complexity)... an interesting enigma for me for a post 2000 Cali cab... didn't perform to expectations sadly, but that happens

Very dark red color, 2mm clear edge. PNP, drank a couple glass over 3 hours. Dried earth, cassis, black cherry, plum, crushed violets, with hints of blueberry on the nose. The palate is singing, cassis, licorice, tart juneberry , pencil, ultra fine tannins, and nice spices that linger on the finish. In fine form.
