Brick red, slightly translucent. Nose lots of red fruit, plums, slightly perfumed, slightly spicy. Palate is sweet, complex, luxurious, slightly tannic, but softly so, and beautifully long finish. Real class in a glass - wish I had more !
Color: pale red Nose: very distinctive, this had a very unpleasant nose at start, not floral, after about an hour in the glass -wow really complex nose, this is hard to pin down, floral now after 1.5 hours, Palate: medium bodied, good tannins, very finesse, pretty, beguiling, wow full of character, layered complexity, classy
A typical Wednesday evening in Sydney: Served blind. Very high toned floral nose, there is graphite, raspberry, rhubarb and some oak showing as well. The palate is a little bit more held back than the sweet profile on the nose, but it feels quite astringent, which seems to mask the fruit. One dimensional at the moment, to be honest it didn't win me over and this is one of my most favourite producers and wines.
Dinner at Home with Friends (My House, Chicago IL): Opened about 2 hours before serving. A ripe fruit profile, dark red/black cherry and berry, intermixed with earth and lighter spice. Ripe dark fruit on the palate as well with moderate structure, acidity, and finish. I didn't enjoy this wine tonight as much as I have other evenings, but of course it was up against some stiff competition. Overall a very good wine though and I'm glad to have some in the cellar.
