  Maroon in color. Brambly fruit, whiskey barrel, and thick, glycerin-like aromas. Cherry syrup and vaguely chocolaty flavors, oak and vanilla creme.
  
  Simple, artificial, and uninteresting. Primarily fruity and jammy.

  shared with pat at selkirk manor. grabbed this bottle in haste as i was unable to locate the bottle i had selected for tonite. my condolences to dzop who apparently did not keep his bottles open long enough. this bottle needed to be open for an hour before significant bottle funk dissipated and the most luscious aromatic merlot nose emerged. exposure to air also allowed the tannins to soften resulting in an enveloping robe in the mouth. wish i had followed my original inclination to keep this bottle a bit longer. i am sure that it has a bright future ahead of it.

  shared this with pat at selkirk manor. popped and poured. chose this bottle for tonite due to lack of professional reviews and longevity estimates from CT members. the wine is much the same as it was on initial tasting a year ago. smooth, pleasant, easy drinking. it may be slightly more open than last time offering some florals behind the red berries. although it is drinking well now, i will keep the remaining bottle a year before opening as a potential learning experience.

  This was a very pleasant Merlot with a good nose and a very fruity flavor with well balanced acids and a very light tannin. A good wine for sipping.
