Same bottle, following day: It's different enough to warrant a new review. More blackberry and definitely prominent cassis now on the palate, and it's a very liveyl palate with soem dark red fruits singing there a little too. Still some biting acidity, slightly volatile, but not in a bad way, almost mineral.
Still a lot of oak, and it's a little heavy but they are soft and drying, and actually better now than before! Perhaps a little past it, but great fun, and well worth it.
Good fresh blackberry nose on opening. Purple-red hue, and some red-black fruits on the palate. Not deep, but a little lively and definitely with enough acid to keep it fresh. Strong drying oak tannins kick in on the back end, overpowering the fruit, suggesting this is past its prime, but still drinkable. The tannins do overposwer the end of the palate, possibly because it spend 24 months in American oak before bottling.
Hour or so later, still quite fun, and I'd pay £5 for it again as a decent cheap Spanish over the usual Aussie carp. I'd rather have the 04 or 05 though, as they've probably got more fruit.
