Served blind. It has just a touch of Vosne profile but more earthy and woody, leading to an initial NSG guess. Missing some weight on the GC and the oak is perhaps too much of influence. Also an example of big climate. 91

A very open, perfumed nose and first mouth was all that could be hoped for. But for all the excellent 1997s of Dom Laurent I have tasted, this one was a little short lived. After 20 minutes, it flattened quite quickly. It may well have been the food, which was rather flavorful.

opened and decanted an hour, put back in bottle and took to Club for nine and dine, was angular on pop 'n pour and also on re-opening, i liked it but high acid and i figured the team at diner would pan it… instead their open-mindedness and the wine softening-up / fruiting-up over the 90 minutes we downed it did the trick and in the end Andy said twice how fantastic it was (and much better than the 2010 Faiveley Mercury Clos des Myglands alongside)… my suspicion is a '93 or a '98 version would have more body and be more appealing to the crowd

Spot on! Drinking remarkably well for the age and the vintage. Delicate with layers of fruit and earth and great burgundy depth. Long finish. I couldn't have been more pleased. Worked great with a chicken saute with cognac peppercorn sauce. I found this better than many, if not all, of Laurent's wines I have had previously.
