Dinner at Home (Fremont, CA): Medium-deep ruby color with only slight bricking; nose has very subtle fruit, subtle spice, very subtle tobacco (have to concentrate on the nose to get anything); palate is full bodied, smooth balanced texture, some red fruits, cherries still present, some slight secondary tobacco character; finish is short-medium length. This is fully mature, starting to head downhill based on my bottles over the last 3 years. Still good and worth the $40 release price, though it lacks distinctive character and could be substituted with most other ripe right bank wines (though better balanced than some of them). Drink my last bottle before the end of the year. 89-88-
Dinner at Home; 6/27/2014-6/28/2014 (Fremont, CA): Ripe red fruits, some secondary character with tobacco; palate is full bodied, fresh, mature red fruit, nice fruit through the midpalate; medium length finish. Well balanced, mature right bank Bordeaux. Drink in the next few years.
Quite a medium ruby color with bricking appropriate for age; nose is complex though subtle (mild intensity), much secondary/tertiary components with some cedar, spice, slight sweet cigar smoke, slight green vegetal; palate shows medium body, good fruity flavor including blackberry, some slight cherry, initial tannic structure (well integrated, not yet drying but structured, not soft), flavors fade quickly through a hollow midpalate; short finish. This is a fully mature bordeaux, interesting, complex on the nose > palate, but heading towards decline. Drink within the next 1-2 years. 90-91 1hr: excellent balance with food.
Medium red, rather faint nose of black fruit and lightly roasted coffee beans. Nothing stands out in this, some fruit, out of balance, and mild acidity. Drinkable with a pot roast. 5 bottles left from a 2002 purchase.
