  • Fresh dark fruits with black currants & some black olives sneaking in there. Full-bodied medium acidity & bigger tannins but very nicely integrated. Plenty of life life.

  • Opened by good friend HMC at dinner last night.....fading a bit more over past bottles. Fruit/color still pretty strong but age is taking its toll with a decidedly smooth prune/raisin finish. Tannins are well integrated and the wine is soft in the mouth. Very nice but heading into that tertiary territory that many a modern Cali cab lover may not like. Still, I do and it's the 2nd WOTN to me. Thanks, HMC!

  • Once again courtesy of my good friend Mark, I get another glimpse of this beautiful lady I loved in its youth. Still very, very good, dense, black fruited. This time I got distinct impressions of anise.

Particularly enjoyable in juxtaposition to a 2013 Pina from Yountville. The Pina was brighter, a bit fruitier and very solid 93+ for me. The Beau Vigne was mature, almost elegant and resolved in comparison while still exhibiting ample power. A point higher than last bottle 95.

  • This bottle a little better than the last by a half point so could technically round up to a 96, originally had it at 95.5. It had less blueberry compote and more blue/black liquoer.........dense fruit, good weight still compact and organized into a good wine. Tannins integrated nicely, acidity integrated nicely. This was a bit of a classy surprise. My last bottle.

  • Nose of sweet red/black fruit, turns blue on first sip....soft feathery feminine feel in the mouth with a little late camphor on the end? Tasted a bit sweeter the other night when I used the Coravin on it to siphon off a few small glasses. Secondary taste profile for sure, a little black tar/licorice maybe. Tannins are well-integrated but there is still just a fine bead of acidity all the way through giving it a few more years in the bottle should you so choose. I should remark that the other night, my glass just reeked of blueberries. No such sense tonight, however. Still very, very good. This isn't Charlize Theron but it might be Drew Barrymore.......
