  Quite manly, smokey, intense. Needs a bit of air, has real presence, tar, red berries, still tannin here. Far from declining, plenty of primary fruit.

  Decanted for 2 hours. Very aromatic nose of dried flowers, herbs, balsamic and plums. Deep palate, fine grained grippy tannins and chalky minerals complement the crunchy black fruit. Still quite youthful with plenty of runway.

  ~3 hour decant. Immediately shows an intense, large scale nose of red cherry and plum, florals, spice, tar and licorice. The palate shows fruit that is still quite youthful, and with air, tannins that are reasonably suave and integrated. Delicious with cheesy, meaty, pasta. In a very early peak zone that should last a few decades.

  Give it some more age perhaps but I’m not convinced this was a good bottle as I’ve had much better versions of this wine before.
  Bought at an auction some 5 years ago.
