Still very good. Initially very smoky and oaky on the nose. As the wine sat in the glass aromas of pineapples and bananas emerged. A very oily texture in the mouth with flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, and a lot of lemon. The wine evolved considerably as it sat in the glass rising to room temperature. After a while, a little honeysuckle and even a hint of butterscotch lingered on the finish. Still drinking very well, but surely on its way down. I have had the '99, '00, and '01 of this offering recently as well, with the '99 interestingly enough, still possessing quite a bit of fruit (mango, peach, apricot, etc.) over the '00 and '01 which have considerably faded. Drink them NOW, if you have any left.

Slowly growing into a Viognier fan, this was a true standout among California Viogniers. Opened it had a very tight nose, just a bit of honeydew, or maybe even honeysuckle. In the glass it exploded with wonderful aromas of fresh fruit - berries, pears, even a little lemon. On the palate this was a joy to consume. Very nice acid/fruit balance for my taste. Immediately I was struck with the pears and honeydew from above, but also just a hint of mineral flavor and a very long and smooth finish. This was paired with a nice cheese course during a tasting lunch. (goat cheese, orange honey, fresh walnuts). 89 Points
