My first bottle of this beauty. Medium-to-full body with strong legs. Indigo color with dark garnet edges. Notes of brambles and fall harvest on the nose. On the palate classic Tuscan berries with toasty notes of spice, including (surprisingly) paprika. A nice finish with well-integrated tannins. Fantastic pairing with Beth's homemade lasagna with zucchini.
Magnum bottle, cellared for 2 years. Man, this has evolved to a really good wine. Layered bouquet with tobacco, dark fruit, spices and - with age - autumn leaves. A great sniffer. Mouth is completely harmonious, with integrated but firm tannins, great structure and acids to meet the hearty pasta Bolognese from chuck roll we paired it with. Last bottle, regrettably.
