Main impression: Darkness! Dark purple/red color, nearly black. The nose is dominated by blue and black fruits. Very impressive. On the palate there are no tertiary notes yet, fruit dominates here too. Will last for a long time and is not already on its peak. Wait and it will pay off...Give it many hours of air if opened now!

Very good showing for this wine. Still mostly primary and the merlot really shows. The rim is just starting to show red and not the deep purple of past bottles. Tannins are very fine…dare I say ferrous. Acidity is definitely present and I’m slightly worried that the fruit might not live up to the structure in several years. But this is about as nice a cru bourgeois wine as I can think of. Drink now or hang tight for a couple years to see if anything new develops.

From a half bottle. Crazy volatile acidity with plenty of off putting flavors and aromas. Undrinkable.

2009 Meyney is totally black-fuited with black currants, black berries and a persistent slate/graphite finish. A little too smooth.

Better than the last, but there is still a hint of something on the nose that isn't right
