  • Very little sediment. Moderately soaked cork. Full ruby core with a garent rim. Coats the glass with a transparent robe. An initial bit horsey on the nose, combined with dried and stewed and mascerated red and black fruits, mainly sour cherry and black cherry, black Mission fig, leather and spice. The flavours include dried black cherry, tar, black licorice, dried black fig, worn leather, spice (nutmeg) and black tea. Full bodied, very smooth, rich and full of stewed fruits, but then there are still abundant tannins and a classic touch of bitterness on the long finish. Highish alcohol but it is well balanced by the fruit and tannin. Very long, off dry finish. Still eminently alive and gustatory. Molto complesso!

  • An opaque wine with a black core exhibiting bricking on the edges. At first there's a dominant aroma of wet hay that gives way to licorice, raisins, plums, coffee, tar, leather, cloves, and hints of cinnamon. Very sweet prune flavors on the attack intermingled with blackberries, a midpalate filled with sour dark chocolate, dark cherries, raspberries, and coffee. The finish is long dominated by sweet dark fruits and spices. Quite deceitful, smells and tastes very sweet but finishes very dry, impeccable balance, full bodied, smooth texture, and well integrated velvety tannins. A library wine released recently by the producer.
