I like the flavor here. While the bottle mentions oak, I don't detect very much, just a little hint, maybe. It pours with a good sour note on the aroma, along with some fruit. The aroma shrinks as it opens up... but then comes back. Now is when I begin to smell the oak. The flavor to me is good fruit, some minerality in the middle, and a crisp finish with some lingering fruit notes.
Solid Chardonnay. Nicely balanced and rich in flavor, without overly oaked nor cloying vanilla flavors. Influence of barrels and malolactic fermentation done just right to make for a pleasing palate and food-friendly end result. Exceptional QPR for an estate-bottled wine.
