More earthy and wild than the Tuscan Sangios tonight, though not outright funky. Solidly refined on the palate and perhaps a bit lightweight in the finish. No upside from here.

Sangiovese night (Chicago, IL): Next to the Tuscan wines, this is definitely a bit of an odd man out. Very much thinner on the palate, with some angles from the acidity and tannin, and with a fruit profile that is perhaps closer to trousseau with its tart redness and slightly dilute watermelon-like quality. Not a huge fan of the slightly green, ashy nose either. Interesting to try and certainly not a wine I would refuse to drink, but not particularly to my taste or interest.

No formal notes. I wish I had been more focused on this one to provide more detail. Upon open, the nose was expressive: dark fruits and leather from memory. On the palate, strong tannins and strong acid but very little fruit out of the gate; weak mid palate and short finish. After 30 minutes in the glass the wine started to come together and was peeking at the hour mark. Very tasty.

This is surprisingly delicate and graceful - the tannins are almost completely gone and while the nose has that Bea feral funk, on the palate this reminds me more of a Pergole Torte as the sangiovese really seems to dominate. Another side of Bea that I haven’t experienced - this is beautiful wine.

Medium weight with lots of herbal and toasted spice complexity. Fully resolved and ready to go.
