A great bottle of wine. Deep rub in color. The nose was not overpowering, but subtle hints of cherry, oak, licorice and cocoa. The flavors on the palate were enormous filled with blackberry, plum, cherry, spice, and an undertone of earhiness. The wine had a very long finish. Great Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon.

30th Birthday Bash Wine Dinner (Scoozi, Chicago): From a magnum that Johnny brought to celebrate my 30th. Purchased upon release I believe. A nice restrained Old World quality - really elegant but still showing masculine iron core and dark blackberries. Anise, a little funk which I really enjoyed. Rustic fruit and some leather saddle. Nice Rutherford dust play that's unique and enjoyable.

Best bottle yet. Spectacular flavor profile of blackberry, boysenberry, cassis, oak, earth and a lot of Rutherford dust. Smooth texture with perfect balance and a long fruity and pleasantly rough, almost chewy finish. This is an amazing wine that would compete evenly with many of the big boys of Napa - in comparison it is less elegant than Beringer Reserve, darker and bigger than Insignia, deeper and somewhat rougher than Mondavi Reserve, a bit darker but very similar to Staglin. Very masculine texture and flavor profile. A great Napa cabernet that is drinking great now and with plenty of life remaining.

From magnum. Decanted for about 1 hour. Big aromas and flavors of boysenberry, cherry, cassis , spice and oak with a hint of Rutherford dust. Rich, ripe, concentrated flavors. Smooth mouthfeel with excellent balance and a long fruity finish. This bottle had not even a hint of the roughness I found in a couple of prior bottles. It is still improving - many years of life remaining.

Medium to full body, slightly spice, herbal nose with chocholate and coffee on mid-palate. Very nicely balanced wtih mild residual tannins. Extremely solid cab that will get better for at least 5 years.
