Brooke and I enjoyed this bottle, undecanted, at The Oven. Initially the bottle was musty, but with some air it opened nicely. The bottle evolved constantly over the two hours or so it was open. As the wine opened, it became barnyard / mushrooms, then some light, fading fruit, and finally raisin/resin. Still enjoyable, but in the final stage of it's drinking window.

I must admit these Jadots really aged well. Aromatically it displays red fruits, forest floor, earth, smoke, spices, floral, Manuka honey, tea, and tree bark. The palate displays a good strong intensity and concentration of sweet ripe red fruits, with well integrated acidity and oak. Very lovely, drinking at peak and will still hold.

From memory from a dinner a couple nights ago. I have no experience with mature Burgundy this showed differently than I expected. I expected more mushroom and earthy notes but this showed nice restrained fruit with cinnamon and fall spice notes. Elegant and pretty. I would never have guessed the age of this.

1990-99 1er cru dinner at The Bristol (Chicago, IL): This was one of the biggest surprises at the dinner tonight. This bottle was showing incredibly well for what it was, with lovely sweet red fruit counterbalanced by a good amount of acid and some mostly-resolved but still rustic tannins. There's a coarseness to this wine that seemed to add to the charm for me. A really enjoyable and pleasant wine.
