  • Medium red colour, no bricking. Light bodied, dusty fruit, iodine, tobacco and leather notes. Opens up nicely with air to show good complexity. This would be better with food for sure. Interesting wine, will last some more years, but I doubt it will get better.

  • I thought this was a nice example of 10 yr old Chinon. Brambly, mineral, plenty of fruit, a touch of spiciness that was probably once a bit of green. I either forgot this had a plastic cork or I never knew- but glad this one held up well. If it weren't for the cork, I'd say no rush on this- not sure it gets better, but doubt it goes downhill. With the cork, who knows?

  • Wine is still very much alive. Garnet color some clearing. Needed almost an hour before it opened up. At first it had much more funk and a bitterness at mid palate hints of spices. With time the wine opened revealing more fruit and floral qualities and enticing baking spices. Minerality and acidity keep the wine interesting. This is an intriguing wine. I bought at close out for five bucks. This wine was even better with food. Really fine wine making. Is it a 88, 90, 92? Who cares I enjoyed the shit out of it.

  • So sad to hold a bottle for a few years only for it to be flawed. I thought it would hold out but maybe I should not have held it so long. Was stewed.

  • Bright ruby/purple rim, low to moderate depth of color. Aromatically plenty of pebbles, red fruits, flowers, no new oak aromas that I can detect. On the palate high acidity, low alcohol, a firm and crisp midpalate, moderate amount of low to medium ripe tannins that are just a bit green and angular. Wine has balance but is a bit on the firm side, short length, good intensity, average complexity. Wine has plenty of finesse, a slightly edgy texture, great expression of place. "Dirtheads, deadheads, and Marxist farmers" is a pretty much perfect descriptor of this wine's style... drinks well now but has the depth of flavor and acidity/tannins to improve with 3-5 in the bottle... "very good" wine in a very particular style that is great QPR for those who like this type of wine.
