Can't remember if I've ever had a NZ chard but this does have a fair amount in common with the SBs coming from there - cat pee on the nose, grassiness on the palate. Has to be terroir?? The wine is medium bodied with no obvious oak influence. Very easy to drink, balanced and focused. Not the most complex wine, but I did enjoy it. Given that I paid $6 for it with shipping and planned to use it for cooking mostly, heck - this blew my low expectations out of the water. I would happily pay $15 for this.
