PnP; opened without much confidence, didn’t expect it to have stand the test of time. But I was wrong. Still quite tannic, although they have softenedover the years. Dark, ripe red fruits, gae and enough aciditytogive it a good back bone. Certainly isn’t going to improve, it’s past its peak. If you have any left, drink them this autumn.

Weekly tasting group #220; A mixed set fully blind tasted. (@ PvdV): Bouquet with dark forest fruits, vanilla, cigar box, caramel and coffee. On the palate dark berries, sweet spices like cinnamon, herbs, good acidity and round tannin with still a pleasant bite. Really good and completely ready now.

In a word - stunning! Still youthful garnet with little age showing in the glass but on the nose this is fully mature and gorgeous. Violets, plum, dark cherry, red liquorice and fresh cut grass. Silky on the palate with plum, sweet black liquorice, cedar, lilac (if you could taste a lilac) along with a sweet sapidity. The finish is medium plus with the fruit continuing. Warm even though it's only a (stated) 13.5% abv. Still years to go but so very tasty right now.

Nothing rustic about this Aglianico: polished, soft, but with grainy tannins, great extraction, and delicate balance. Dark plummy and lightly tangy fruit, some licorice, a little chocolate on the long finish. No need to pay outrageous prices in this category. . This drinks twice the price. Di Majo Norante does it again.

Red/brick color. Full aromas of dark cherry and raspberry with some green pepper and licorice. Full bodied with ripe fruit, chewy-smooth mouth coating tannins and fresh acidity. The finish is long with a slightly bitter twist. A bold wine, not the greatest example of refinement! Will certainly last for more years to come, probalby even develop a bit more complexity, but I would drink it now.
