Perfect cork. Opulent and rich, the nose evokes immediately black fruit with some (but not too many) tertiary aromas. Elevage notes are also present but harmoniously blended. The aroma profile evolves with time without deteriorating or losing in focus. The palate betrays the wine's class, elegance and volume combined with a perfect balance. Mouthfeel is very seductive but never overwhelming, truly classy- Again, elevage is present but without disturbing the ensemble. Great length, a true Grand Cru from an opulent year.

Sam's 60th Birthday (The Krengels - Bannockburn IL): Small glass, brief note. Ripe red cherry throughout, slightly jammy with some meaty notes and subtle spice notes, not quite the level for Grand Cru Vosne, but certainly balanced and enjoyable.

Surprisingly young looking, dark and opaque red color with vibrant berry aromas. While quite good, comes across a bit hot and nearly jammy with yummy fruit profile overwhelming any nuance. Shows the power and breed of the site with volume turned way up. Not sure if this improves, but would keep any lying down longer.

A complete wine, with red, black, and blue fruits in harmony. Popped and poured, and this bottle went down too quickly. It deserves to be contemplated and followed along for an extended time period, but it's tough not to drain the glass given how delicious it is.

(Gros Frère & Soeur Richebourg) Medium-plus ruby-red colour, still with hints of cherry. Shiny red fruit on the nose with a black undertow and a little earth, eventually a little orange too. Sweet and concentrated with real mid-palate intensity. Soft entry, well covered tannin with a slowly fading good length that maybe even has a hint of licorice. Rather like de Vogüé's 01 Musigny this displays apparently less ripe tannin when compared to others in its flight.
