Slightly brickish with some brown. Incredibly complex aromas. Lots of fruit, some spices. Not perfumed. Just right. Balanced. Tannins and acidity are integrated. Stayed really long after the bottle was finished. More than an hour. 10 years ago this was quite closed but is now blooming.

Jonathan’s/Nick’s 04 Bordeaux (Hawksmoor Guildhall, London): Warm and broad on the nose. Smooth. Disguises its 14% abv well. Crying out for steak. Full but nicely balanced. Very decent, and maybe my favourite PM since the 97. ****

2004 Bordeaux at 20 years courtesy of Mark Taylor; 3/23/2024-3/24/2024 (Atlanta, GA): Deep, plummy, seemingly Merlot, mint, a hint of VA, darker fruit, cocoa, licorice, fairly round, pleasing, almost seductive, a nice silky finish. My #5 and the group #6. Guessed correctly as Pavie-Macquin.

Nice early and started to fade after 90 minutes. Drink up.
