This is always a flamboyant Brunello, but in minor years - like 2005 - it resembles more restrained and dry types. However, one should not forget that the wine is already 14 years old, and that the primary fruit is long gone. Deep garnet brown, almost to the rim. Intense nose of black cherries, dry wood, some warm earth, tobacco and tea. Full bodied, sweet fruit on the attack, next the wine dries somewhat out, but giving room for plenty of tobacco, tea and chocolate flavours. Nice length. With some coal grilled kid it was wonderful. Drink up if you want to have some fruit, but if you like your brunellos dry and challenging you can keep it for at least five more years.

Decanted for an hour. Very nice aromas of flowery red cherry with tones of licorice, feeling young but with a depth. The palate is also feeling young, robust with good fruit and tannins. This seems to be just reaching its plateau, still scope for getting better. Leave it for another 5 years in the cellar!

Liqurish, plums relish, sweet aged balsamic, vanilla, black pepper, secondary later, wet leaves, asphalt, dark fruits, flowers, mid minus acidity, tart, chewy tannins despite the age. Full body. Medium plus finish. Drink now, might be better few years ago?

Big alcohol vapor upon opening. Let sit for a while. Complex, earthy, aromas of black walnuts. Evolved beautifully.
