Coravin sample. Dark color with crimson edge. Solid bouquet of blackberry and raspberry liqueur, wood spices, some sweet creosote but not quite as ripe as an Aussie shiraz. Palate has broad and fleshy tannins with dark fruit and black tea leaves with some salty tinge. A light to medium finish of black tea and tannins. This has plenty of gas in the tank and I will update with more as it unfolds thoughout the night 92+
I had high expectations for this and I was somewhat let down. The first thing is the peculiar nose: pine resin and something more volatile: nail polish remover! I put a stopper on it and waited a day in a cold cellar. Next day the volatile elements had mostly blown off. The fruit was still a bit pinched and the harshness of the extraction in the wine is still felt on the palate. Reserve final judgement for my second bottle.
