Earth, plum, medicine, grilled meat, soil, tea and dried dark fruit. Palate was still fresh and vibrant with a savoury profile. Not my favorite style but enjoyable.

Musigny night 19th aug 1989 - opened 3 hours before drinking. Early funk blew away leaving a lovely wine that drank well but no fireworks. Gained a little more weight towards the end of the evening. Drink now 92 1995 - opened about 6 hours before drinking. Still quite tough with a big tannic structure. Least liked wine of the flight tonight. Can try and keep for a few years but doubt it will improve. 91 1998 - 3rd time drinking this wine. And this was similar but certainly a step up from the other 2 earlier wines (1989 & 1995) which demonstrated the wine making improvements and evolution. I liked this straight from the beginning but towards the end of the evening felt that it was a little short and the 99 and 02 were better wines with the 99 WOTN for me. Start drinking from now 93+ 1999 - opened 2 hours before drinking. Loved the structure and felt that for a 99 this was surprisingly approachable. Took some time for the wine to evolve with the 98 starting off the blocks for me but 99 catching up and surpassing it at the end of the evening. Long finish with so much more possibility to improve. Drink now for another decade at least. 94+ 2002 - opened from early morning. A very different nose from the rest perhaps reflecting its relative youth. Just a tannic Monster at the beginning but eventually softened a little towards the end of the evening. Has great potential but I would hold back drinking this for at least another 3-5 years. 93 2005 Bourgogne Blanc - surprise addition by Mr L. First time with a declassified white musigny for me and I m not quite sure of what to make of the wine making approach which I felt was similar to arnaud ente. A slightly oxidised reductive and concentrated approach with orange peels and toasted burnt almonds. I feel too much wine making and not enough terroir? Interesting nonetheless.

Aperto e non scaraffato, il tappo si è sfasciato nonostante tutte le cautele del caso, ma dopo 4 ore la bottiglia è super. Naso tipico , note di bosco, fungo ma anche frutta matura, fiori, è in gran forma. Bocca setosa, acidità giusta e l’eleganza che ti aspetti da un vino di questo livello. Probabilmente un poco oltre la sua finestra migliore, ma ancora eccezionalmente godibile.

Ficofi Paulee- In magnum. Forest, dark currant, plum, and earth. Palate had the grand cru density and a beam of nice acidity. Like most of Vogue’s wine in this era, it was on the savory and earthy side. But there was enough freshness and fruit to make it very enjoyable.
