Medium garnet color turning tawny towards the rim. Nose is exquisite: oriental spice, cinnamon, forest floor, lifted herbal notes and plummy fruit. Seems fully developed. Palate is medium bodied with fluid texture. Flavorwise it is spicy with nice mature flavors. Tannins are resolved, acidity is medium and finish is quite good. Compared to the best Burgundies it lacks in concentration on the mid-palate.

1999 Red Burgundy Tasting: Tasting, brief note. Beautiful floral nose, very charming even if it seemed more Vosne and Leroy than NSG, even for this northern vineyard in NSG. Light and simpler flavors, shallow from middle to finish.

1999 Leroy Nuits St. Georges Au Bas de Combe - Not as good as Leroy's Savigny from the same vintage. Some unresolved tannins and a little thinner on the mid-palate. Still a really good bottle, but not extraordinary. 91 pts.

Beautiful Pinot, cherries and mushrooms and forest floor aromas. Will evolve further.
