Everything about this wine suggested it should be much younger. Bright deep red in colour, very forward nose of raspberry, maybe blackberry with just a hint of leather and wood. The palate is nicely balanced, good acidity and tannins still lurking in the background, Good finish. Great food wine. Can easily go another five years, likely longer.
Drank at the Boba Burgundy Dinner with Davide, Peter and John. Great structure, acidity and fruit balance. Complex, soft and delicious. This eclipsed the 1997 Henri Perrot-Minot Charmes Chambertin, surprisingly. Drink 2006 onwards. Great showing.
