Dark ruby color. Nice nose of red and dark cherries and a hint of strawberry. Medium bodied with red and dark fruits together, lacking any real focus one way or the other. A simple wine with life left but, should drink up in the next year, at most.

This was a luscious surprise. Lately I've been a bit critical of Shea's wines, but this hit on all cylinders. Beautiful decadent nose of cherry and spice, with a rich saturated palate of red and black cherry and sharp spices, even a hint of strawberry, ripe but not overripe like many OR pinots from this very warm year. Too bad a couple of bad scores drops this below an excellent average. (100% Wädenswil)

This one clocked in at 15.2% abv. I last sampled this 6.5 years ago, and the wine had certainly evolved, to a simpler form, though not the evolution I had hoped for. Today's version exhibited dark cherry candy on the nose, prominent blackberry fruit on the palate, and a touch of bitter tannin on the finish. Had a few glasses on day 2, and not much change other than the mouthfeel being smoother than day 1 when gritty tannins were more evident. Paired this with beef stew which was a good call to stand up to this fairly big and dark pinot.

A beautiful wine. I was inspired to post this note because of the other less than stellar notes / scores prior. This wine drank beautifully last night. You will note that the other tastings were 2013, or earlier ... this wine has since developed into something very nice. Loads of caramel and espresso on the nose. Cranberry, black tea, and espresso on the palate. This is the first time I've pulled this wine from the cellar ... I'm glad I have more.
