Oh boy, that extra five years made all the difference.
Splash decant. Still a nice purple hue. Beautiful aromas of fresh cut flowers, tobacco, forest pine, and faint red fruit.
Palate has now come together and integrated all that oak. Lifted red cherry and cassis greet the palate followed by pencil lead, earth, and faint tobacco. Medium bodied. The oak is only faintly noticeable now. Perfectly balanced with just enough acidity to keep the wine feeling fresh. Great expression of aged Napa Cabernet. Fantastic bottle.
I will drink my magnum in about 5-10 years, recommend drinking smaller formats now or within 5 years.

Blackberry, cassis, other dark fruits with prominent oak. Some savory elements mix in as well. Tannins not fully integrated, needs another 5-10 years to come together.

Aroma of creme de cassis and saddle leather. This has a sturdy tannic frame with cassis, cocoa, and plum. Has some persistence on the finish where the tannins keep their latent grip, aided by a modest dustiness. A solid wine but it doesn't have the complexity or depth, especially at the price point, for what you would expect. A very poor QPR. Day 1 score 88.
Very astringent on day 2 after being stored overnight in the fridge. Undrinkable day 2. This went down the drain.

the 2019 drinking window is probably more accurate. This was a bit faded and never really showed anything to knock your socks off. Drink now.

From memory, blackberry, black cherry fruit with tannins that are not resolved. Good, but needs 5-8 years.
