Best Carlisle I've tried to date. All the others, while very good wines, have been much younger, so I think a little age turns these into 'great' wines.
Pop and poured with grilled burgers and roasted potatoes. This was quite peppery with some green pepper. Dark fruits were still there, albeit not as pronounced as the younger Carlisles I've had. The balance was in perfect balance. This will probably drink well for another 2-3 years. A solid 91 point wine.
Lovely distinctive dusty, savory, nose, with mild hints of green olive and garrique. Lucious mouthfeel with dark fruits, ripe but not sweet. Amazingly balanced, wonderful acidity. Nice medium length finish.
We enjoyed this on a cool summer night, sitting outside at La Verona in Kennett. Compared to the European wines we have been drinking this was a bit lusher but it has pretty good acidity to keep it balanced. Some slight minty/eucalyptus notes. Drinking well now but no need to hurry.
