Gold colour with a nose of nettle, burnt vegetation, dried herbs, forest floor, red apple and peach. A delicious palate off dry red apple, peach, white pepper and spice. Incredible length, I love these wines.

If I were to describe this 09 Felsenber GG as round, soft, darker in color than expected, moderate to low acidity, one would be inclined to conclude this was subpar or just ok. Quite the opposite, this was absolutely delicious, both hedonistic and surprisingly cerebral too. A core of minerals dominates, with a playful mouthfeel. It doesn’t really have a specific fruit to describe as it seems the more tertiary elements have taken over. Smart, clean, fresh, and outstanding. I’m not sure if this is fully mature, I’m inclined to say yes, but it should hold for a good spell.

White gold colour with a petroleum, baked apple and lemon. The palate is dry with intense citrus flavours with the baked apple present too and wonderful slate and mineral texture. Extraordinary wine.

This wine has changed dramatically over the last 5yrs from being a linear crystalline dry Riesling to being incredibly rich and full of tropical fruit. It’s not entirely to my taste but those who like tropical fruit driven powerful Riesling’s will really enjoy this. Well suited to spicy Asian food. It’s got years ahead of it I would say and I’ll leave my remaining bottles to settle down a bit.
Golden yellow. Apricot, nectarine, and peach fruit. Dry, but not austere. There is enough residual sugar to allow this to play nicely with food with a bit of spice. Good now.
