Ridge Zinfandel 1994-2010 (Brussels): Almost brick color. Dark, raw fruit of red orange, vanilla, mature notes; earthy on the nose. On the palate medium body, round fruit with an unbalanced acidity and some wood tannins marking it with an unbalanced end impression. Should have been drunk although I imagine this has always given an overoaked impression.
A bit over the hill, but it was a nice hill. Old Zin tends to taste like old cab if as well made as this one. Elegant bouquet of mushrooms and earth, a bit musty. Balance on the bitter side, but tannins are smooth. Cork was in good shape so this bottle was well kept (I bought it at a charity event).
