  • Opened approximately 20 minutes before serving. Showing very tired and flat, unfortunately. A bit of air help out some, bringing aromas of wild strawberry and forest floor. It remained fairly soft on the palate though, and is perhaps on the decline. Still, a real treat to have some Oregon history.

  • The cork was intact but brittle and came out in pieces. Use the two tine blade that grabs around the edges for these old corks not a screw. The wine was sour and thin at opening but opened in 45 minutes to a fruity balanced wine with good characteristic flavor. The wine is clearly past its prime (of course) but went well with our sausage and pasta dinner and especially well with the candied walnuts I ate for dessert. My wife and daughter also enjoyed the wine and lamented when it was gone.
