A lot of strawberry on opening and a little heat. Opens up overnight and is much better, but still a burn from the alcohol and not quite the finesse of the last showing. 89

Wonderful strawberry, black fruit, rose, liquorice and mint leaf aromas rush from the glass. Full of juicy fruit, acidity (as you would expect) with quite bitter but relatively soft tannin and a long finish. I'd call it a baby Barolo but, frankly, if you paid £30 for a Barolo and it taste this good you would be quite content. 91

Fragrant, lightly spiced nose of strawberry, rose, aniseed and tobacco. Really nicely balanced bitterness and sweet red fruit, which is not thin or sour but deep and full, with impressive structure. Gets better on the second night, the edges softening. Hard to not buy more at this price and hard to justify paying 3 times as much for the barolo. Delicious. 89 points

Very nice, smooth, and balanced. Light but in no way thin, really shows why (for me) nebbiolo trumps pinot noir. Really great for the price. Starting to develop complex liquorice and floral flavours as well as a touch of cherry. Perfect weight - that amazing balance of weight and lightness that nebbiolo does so well. Upon drinking this I immediately bought 2 bottles of the 2009.
