First night, this was very nice pinot. Varietally true, with some depth and complexity to it. Second night, pretty much shot. Stored in fridge overnight, it didn't like all that air.

Light, ruby-colored and slightly cloudy. Raspberries and strawberries on the nose, tart acidity at first evolving to a somewhat chalky texture on the palate. Mocha, vanilla, and oak with a medium-length velvety finish. Although this is an appellation wine, its made from all Hirsch fruit. If you can't afford the vineyard designate, this is a nice alternative.

Quick visit to Napa and Sonoma; 7/9/2004-7/10/2004 (Sonoma and Napa): Tasting at winery. Subtle strawberry aromas aromas and flavors with a bit of earth coming through already. Light tannins and good acidity, providing good texture today. Probably best 2006-2009, All/mostly declassified fruit from Hirsch.
