Bright red color. Ripe and expressive nose, dark fruits, cassis and vanilla oak. Palate of sweet cherry, blue fruits, violet and licorice. Powerful in style for St Julien, medium mouthfeel and long finish.
Not a celebrated vintage, very nice now and seems to have the structure to continue to evolve
Probably going to this too often, while waiting for "better" vintages. Gave it an all day decant, had it following a 2005 Hillside Select. This was old versus new world for sure. The Leoville has decades to go. It's certainly drinking ok now, has the structure to change and reward.
Decanted for four hours, a somewhat brooding wine, can drink now if you bought a case, otherwise wait. Everything you'd expect from Leoville, and very good for a so so vintage. Expect it will get better and better, go another twenty years.

(Chateaau Leoville Las Cases) #3; COLOR-dark; NOSE-veggies baby; beautiful broccoli head; adore the purple plum component; a little carrot top action; and some black pepper; TASTE-this is really good wine; very polished; I love the granite meets mocha; great mid-palate; great subtle hints of vanilla; young; hints of vegetable; tomato sauce; a surprisingly short finish; but very well-made; ; WS-95; GV-92+
