I thought it was a right bank when tasted blind. It is seductive, ripe, with creamy finish. Heard the fruit was picked very late in 2004. With a much higher proportion of Merlot (38%) in the blend - 57% Cab Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc, Clos du Marquis is a softer, richer and more approachable wine.
Medium garnet color. A bit of a floral nose with berry and cassis on the palate. Surprisingly open and fruit forward for a 10 year old Bordeaux. Granted this is a second wine but there was not a great deal of complexity. This is an observation, not a criticism as the simplicity was offset by the amount of fruit.
